Lot #433kV Conventional RelaysCancelled UK, North East +9

The Authority currently utilises a single relay product range to cover backup protection and bay control functions across multiple applications at 33kV, and as the main protection relay at 11kV. The relay range is coming to the end of its production life; therefore, the Authority is looking to proactively replace this device with modern suitable alternatives. The functional requirements and aim of this tender are to cover existing BAU applications as well as providing ‘digital’ substation features accessible in the future. This is to ensure business continuity with pipeline projects as well as mitigate the risk of having to change a protection relay when transitioning to digital substation technology or applying extended features.

An estimate of demand for protection relays during the Framework period (up to 5 years) is set out as follows:

  • 11kV ~1650 relays
  • 33kV ~2000 relays
  • Demand split: Scottish Hydro Electric Power Distribution (Scotland) ~30%, Southern Electric Power Distribution (England) SEPD~70% Additional information: Price: 60% Technical: 40%

What this means for your bid
  • Price carries 60–70 points depending on the lot; most lots put it at 70 points.
