What is being bought

Published requirement description

Orbit is seeking a suitable supplier to provide Private Medical Insurance (PMI) as part of Orbit's employee benefits package to its employees.

The awarded supplier will be expected to deliver a high-quality, cost-effective and accessible scheme for eligible employees, supporting employee wellbeing while providing value for money and robust account management.

The contract will be for a maximum term of three years with annual break points for convenience. The initial policy period will be 12 months, with each subsequent year only confirmed, subject to satisfactory performance and the renewal premium issued

representing value for money.

Orbit is being supported in this procurement exercise by Employee Benefits Collective LLP (EBC)

    Potential providers must hold the appropriate regulatory permissions, authorisations or status required to provide, arrange or administer the proposed PMI services, including FCA authorisation where applicable.

  • Technical & professional ability

    Potential providers must:

    1. have recent and relevant experience of delivering corporate PMI schemes in the UK
    2. can evidence appropriate data protection, information security and confidentiality controls for handling employee and special category health data, including secure transfer arrangements such as SFTP or equivalent secure data transfer.
    3. have the technical ability to migrate existing members into a new scheme without re-underwriting, protecting current underwriting status and continuity of cover for members mid-claim, awaiting treatment or undergoing treatment at transition.
