What is being bought
Requirements are for respiratory testing analysers for RSV, Cov/SARS and FLU A&B and consumables to conduct expected 1 year of tests. Direct award requirement are: 4 GeneXpert Xpress, touchscreen analysers: 2 to be delivered to Musgrove Park Hospital and 2 to Yeovil District Hospital. Including training for use of the equipment. Procedure rationaleCepheid were identified as being the most suitable supplier as they use a single specimen kit to test for all four respiratory viruses (Flu A, Flu B, RSV and COVID-19) simultaneously. This saves clinicians time during the testing process. The laboratory also uses the Cepheid GeneXpert analyser, providing standardisation of respiratory virus testing across the Trust. This also means connectivity with the existing lab system is achievable so results are centrally visible to all clinical teams.
