St Francis of Assisi Catholic College ~ Catering Tender
Authority: St Francis of Assisi Catholic College (Education)
What is being bought
Published requirement descriptionThe successful Supplier will be required to provide catering services for St Francis of Assis Catholic College.
The contract covers the scope for the provision of all College catering services, which also includes all hospitality and free issue requirements.
St Francis of Assisi Catholic Technology College is a lively and dynamic institution, which leads all who live and work here to a new vision of their potential. The College has a strong Catholic ethos and is committed to providing an excellent education within the context of the Catholic faith and the teachings of the Church.
Students are expected to aim for academic excellence, get involved in the life of the College and help to maintain the high standards of interpersonal relationships on which we all depend.
Students are challenged to reach for what is beyond their immediate grasp and aspire to great things for the benefit of others.
The College is a community which has the potential to produce future leaders in society who will help to redefine and improve the world in which we live.
The current catering contract has been in place for several years and we seek a catering contractor who can share our vision continuing to meet the needs of our pupils over the coming years.
We are a mixed College educating pupils in the 11-18 range. The College has 1170 students on roll, of which 200 are Post 16 and are housed in their own sixth form centre. The number of students are expected to be maintained over the course of this contract.
Achievement levels are expected to continue to rise over the next few years, further enhancing the standing of an already successful College in the neighbourhood.

- Price carries 30 of 100 points: a 10% discount moves about 3 points. The method statement decides this lot, not the discount.
- Turnover usually expected at this size: about £375,643 (twice the annual value).
Price arithmetic assumes straight proportional scoring; the tender pack may use another formula. Turnover is an indicative market norm (≈2× annual value), not a published condition.

Catering services (CPV 5552) in West Midlands, and who usually turns up
St Francis of Assisi Catholic College has too little published record in this market to describe on its own. Published market evidence for the same work stands beside whatever it has. Frameworks and DPS are kept out: they attract a different number of bids. Whole-market view: Catering services (CPV 5552) →
How the contest usually goes
Winner shares use published awards; bid and price charts use contested lots.
i
How often small and medium firms win.
Share of awards where the winner’s size is known.
The counts under this question show how many awards have a known supplier size.
Across this market, small firms won 8% of awards with a known supplier size.
i
How often local firms win similar work.
Winners with a registered address in the delivery region, out of awards with a known address.
Here, local means registered in West Midlands.
A local branch does not count if the registered address is elsewhere.
Across this market, 40% of winners were registered in the delivery region.
i
How long buyers here take to decide after bids close.
Middle value in days from the deadline to the first award notice, on competitions that published both dates.
Only decided tenders count, so slow ones still waiting are not in.
Half of these awards were announced within 120 days of the bid deadline.
i
How often work is awarded with no recorded rival.
Direct awards and tenders where every published lot count shows one bid.
The market share is a minimum: some awards have no bid count.
Thin markets produce this too; it is not proof of a tailored specification.
Across this market, at least 5% of awarded procurements had no recorded rival.

About this data
- Source. Official UK public procurement notices (Find a Tender), reused under the Open Government Licence v3.0. New notices arrive through the day; the figures are rebuilt nightly.
- Two views, kept apart. The authority’s own track record and the wider market for the same kind of work sit side by side and are never mixed. Where the local picture is too thin, a figure widens to a broader market and says which one it used.
- Forecasts are labelled. The price forecast and its range, possible competitors and the earlier-work matches are our estimates from past awards: not published facts, not win chances and not price advice. Official notices do not say who is bidding.
- Every figure shows what it rests on. Not every notice publishes a bid count, a value or a delivery region, so each figure carries the number of records behind it, and one built on few records is marked as such. The on a figure explains it; the counting rules are in the methodology. Spotted something wrong? Tell us.
