Omniflex is the only supplier that has successfully completed the Emphasis approval process for alarm annunciator systems at Sellafield and is therefore the only approved supplier authorised to undertake this scope of work. Omniflex has been the established and approved provider of alarm annunciator systems across the Sellafield site for many years. They provide the approved replacement solution for legacy third-party annunciator systems, ensuring consistency with current approved technology standards and supporting standardisation across the site. A key factor supporting this direct award is that the Omniflex system utilises the existing ELCO (now EDAC) connectors installed on current annunciator systems. This provides a seamless plug-and-play replacement solution, allowing the existing field wiring and connectors to be retained and reused without modification. As a result, the installation can be completed rapidly and efficiently, significantly reducing engineering effort, installation duration and associated costs. The ability to reuse the existing infrastructure removes the need for extensive rewiring, redesign activities or plant modifications that would otherwise be required with an alternative supplier's equipment. This not only delivers substantial cost savings but also minimises operational disruption and plant downtime, reducing programme and delivery risks whilst providing a highly cost-effective upgrade path. Alternative solutions would likely require significant changes to existing installations, creating additional technical, programme and safety risks together with increased implementation costs. This is a one off procurement and there is no intention to procure these items in future.
