Published justification
Buddi Tags are already deployed and operational across both Surrey and Sussex Police, forming an established part of current service delivery. Awarding a contract directly to the existing provider will ensure continuity of service and avoid significant operational disruption. A change of supplier would require the replacement of all tags currently in use, creating logistical and operational challenges associated more…with retrieving, reissuing, and configuring new devices. This would place an additional burden on operational teams, increase the risk of interruption to monitoring activities, and could adversely impact service users during the transition period. The direct award therefore provides a proportionate and pragmatic solution that maintains business continuity, preserves the effectiveness of an established service, and avoids the operational risks and costs associated with replacing equipment that is already deployed and functioning effectively.
