Buyer: Natural England →
Officials from Natural England and Defra are hosting a virtual webinar on Tuesday 14 July 2026, 11:00 – 12:30, and we would like to invite you to join us. The session is aimed at private and third-sector suppliers currently active in, or interested in, the Great Crested Newt (GCN) market. You will also have the opportunity to share your views in an open QA session on capacity, capability, and the practicalities of working within an EDP framework. If this is of interest to you and you wish to attend, please email naturerestorationfund@defra.gov.uk by Wednesday 24 June 2026 with the following details (for a maximum of two representatives from your organisation): • Organisation name: • Name(s) of attendee(s): • Role(s): • Email address(es): • If you have any specific questions, you would like us to address on the day, please feel free to detail these in your response. The session will be hosted virtually via Microsoft Teams video call. Joining information and an agenda will be sent to your nominated representatives following the registration deadline. Benchmarked against retained Find a Tender procedures with CPV division 45. The category anchor is Environmental improvement works (45262640); this is a deliberately broad market comparator. The comparison is shown at several levels rather than pretending one company or region is always the best benchmark.
| Comparison set | Procedures | Reported bids per procedure | Named award suppliers | Price evidence |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Market: CPV division 45 | 17,127 | 4 median · 30.2 average (5,652 of 17,127 with a bid count) | 3.8 average (6,245 of 17,127 with named award suppliers) | Not published |
| Same buyer | 5 | Not published | Not published | Not published |
| Delivery region: UK | 2,382 | 6 median · 82.9 average (838 of 2,382 with a bid count) | 7.3 average (931 of 2,382 with named award suppliers) | Not published |
“Reported bids” is an official aggregate, sometimes reported per lot; it is the closest available competition measure. “Named award suppliers” are winners, not all applicants.
Not enough comparable procedures currently publish both a GBP tender value and a usable lowest-valid-bid value to calculate a responsible price-reduction benchmark. Tenderline deliberately does not infer a saving from named award suppliers or from missing award values.

"description": "Preliminary market research for the provision of conservation measures in Environmental Delivery Plans that address the impact of developments on great crested newts; in particular for the creation and restoration of ponds across England.\nNatural England and Defra group Commercial are conducting preliminary supply market research for the provision of conservation measures prescribed in the Environmental Delivery Plans (EDPs) that address great crested newts under the Nature Restoration Fund (NRF).\nThis is an opportunity for suppliers to inform our requirements and approaches for potential future procurement and to evidence that the market is able to supply the goods, services or works required.\nWhere a developer chooses to meet environmental regulations through the Nature Restoration Fund and where Environmental Delivery Plans are available, levy payments will be collected to fund the conservation measures that address the impact on greater crested newts. \nWe are very keen to hear from landowners and potential great crested newt conservation measures delivery bodies who could enable such provision either within specific geographic areas of England or across the country. Such providers may include, habitat banks, not-for-profit organisations, or ecological arms of local authorities operating in the nature recovery space, ecological consultancies, or a broader group of contractors and ancillary organisations. \nPRIVACY NOTICE\nThis privacy notice sets out:\n• how we process your personal data when you fill out our survey.\n• the rights you have under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR).\nFor information you submit via the survey:\n• Natural England is the data controller\nWe collect and process the following personal data:\n• your name\n• your email address\nPurpose:\nWe collect your personal data as part of the survey response process:\n• so that we can contact you regarding your response or related matters\n• for statistical data, for example the types of individuals and groups participating\nRecipients:\nYour personal data may be shared with:\n• our processor for the purposes of analysing the consultation responses on our behalf\n• other organisations which have a direct interest in the policy on which we are consulting: for example Crown bodies, government departments or Natural England partner organisations. If we plan to share responses with other bodies, we will make that clear on the consultation.\nHow long we keep your data:\nWe will only retain your personal data for as long as the project needs, with a maximum period of 7 years.\nYour rights:\nThe data we are collecting is your personal data, and you have considerable say over what happens to it. Natural England respects your personal privacy when responding to access to information requests.
