What is being bought
Published requirement descriptionThe Welsh Government has committed to helping communities to take ownership of community assets which bring people together where this is the most appropriate option. It is clear that the voluntary sector in Wales has played a vital part in the response to the Covid-19 pandemic. We believe that the sector will also need to play its part in achieving a fair, just and green recovery.
Community assets, both land and buildings act as a focus for community action. Community buildings are places were the community can meet, learn, socialise, volunteer, work, access services. The list of possibilities is endless. Community green spaces can have other benefits for the health and wellbeing of people living within the community served.
In order to support community groups to take on community assets we aim to develop a Community Asset Loan Fund which will provide long term (up to 25 years) finance to help groups to take ownership of these assets and develop them in a financially and environmentally sustainable way.
