"description": "Kent County Council is seeking proposals from creative organisations to work with Young People (age 12-25) We are looking for organisations to work in close collaboration with Kent Creative Partner(s) to plan, curate, commission, promote, and deliver festival activities during summer 2022 that will celebrate and reconnect young people aged 0 to 25 across the county. Eight commissions will be delivered within the existing Kent festivals infrastructure, as part of KCC’s Reconnect programme.\nYoung people and creative organisations will work together to develop proposals for consideration, the delivery of which will be across summer 2022.\nReconnect Presents will empower young people across Kent to realise their creative potential. It will engage and inspire, providing a range of opportunities for young people including as producers, artists, participants, promoters, and audiences. Potential activity might include a ‘Reconnect Presents’ branded stage commissioned by young people at an already established festival. Reconnect Presents will reflect the Articles of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, particularly Article 31: Every child has the right to relax, play and take part in a wide range of cultural and artistic activities.\nThe young people leading each commission will have access to a panel of experienced mentors to inspire, support and guide them through the process. This will be co-ordinated by the Kent County Council Culture and Creative Economy Service team. Young people will be encouraged to develop new skills and interests and be supported to define what is possible and how to realise their ambitions.\nReconnect Presents will:\n•\tEmpower young people\n•\tEnsure young people are listened to and learned from\n•\tIncrease confidence and self-esteem\n•\tInspire through new experiences\n•\tEncourage talent and develop skills\n•\tBenefit the wider creative sector in terms of their involvement in supporting planning and delivery\n•\tContribute to developing sustainable audiences for events and festivals.\n•\tProvide considerable learning opportunities for new and transferable skills\n•\tAllow young people to influence decision making processes and develop relationships with creative sector and other partners\n•\tIncrease leadership and employability skills, preparing young people for the workplace\nUp to eight commissions for festival activities will be available and we will seek to achieve a wide geographic spread of activities to ensure that young people can easily access the offer, and is looking to divide this into two commissions per area (North, South, East and West)."
