London River Services, forming part of Transport for London, own eight central London passenger piers which are served by various boat operators seven days a week from early morning until late evening. In order to ensure the piers are accessible for customers and are maintained to a high standard, regular cleaning is undertaken.
The procurement activity undertaken was to appoint a provider to carry out a general refuse collection service from all piers.
All eight piers have large wheelie bins where rubbish sacks are placed by the pier cleaning Service Providers. The loose bags are to then be transferred to a storage facility and transported to a waste recycling facility.
The Service Provider shall be required to carry out refuse collection for all eight Transport for London piers, at a minimum of twice per week.
