Coverage: 20 active published awards; 7 bid reports (which may be per lot). Supplier values exclude multi-supplier awards, frameworks and DPS, and use GBP only. They are published award values, not payments. Published-to-award variance compares single-lot, single-award, single-supplier GBP procedures with explicitly non-framework/non-DPS status; increases remain in the average. Unpublished data stays unknown. Awarded suppliers are winners, not all bidders.

Procedure rationaleThe explanation for a direct award to the Satellite Applications Catapult (SAC) Ltd being uniquely positioned as subject matter experts who have sector specific expertise that will be critical to the quality of the outputs and are not held elsewhere in the research market.
SAC is a research and technology innovation centre within the catapult network of organisations designed to accelerate research and take-up of new technologies in specific sectors (e.g. Satellite Applications, Connected Places, Digital, Medicines Discovery etc). SAC was formed to help organisations make use of, and benefit from, satellite technologies. They are one of the 10 catapult organisations set up as an independent organisation to assist the public sector therefore use of the catapult network represents an efficiency in public expenditure compared to procuring research services from elsewhere. |
