What is being bought

This is a strip-out and renewal package across the whole MEP — Barbican Renewal Programme, not new-build construction. The works comprise the removal of existing, life-expired MEP infrastructure and installation of new plant, distribution and containment across multiple basement plant levels and public floors of a large, live, publicly operated arts venue (comprising a concert hall, cinemas, art galleries, conservatory, library, function rooms and car parks). The successful contractor will be required to work around continued public operation of the Centre, including phased access, full 12-month closure period from end June 2028, isolation and shutdown of live building services, and interfacing with retained plant and systems, across every work area.

Comparable-procurement analytics

Benchmarked against retained Find a Tender procedures with CPV division 45. The category anchor is Building installation work (45300000); this is a deliberately broad market comparator. The comparison is shown at several levels rather than pretending one company or region is always the best benchmark.

“Reported bids” is an official aggregate, sometimes reported per lot; it is the closest available competition measure. “Named award suppliers” are winners, not all applicants.

Price-outcome signal

Not enough comparable procedures currently publish both a GBP tender value and a usable lowest-valid-bid value to calculate a responsible price-reduction benchmark. Tenderline deliberately does not infer a saving from named award suppliers or from missing award values.
