What is being bought
The Mining Remediation Authority is initiating Preliminary Market Engagement (PME) to inform suppliers of an upcoming procurement for the delivery of annual staff health checks across the UK. This notice invites suppliers to provide insights that will help shape the final specification and procurement strategy. To support engagement, Slido is now open for the submission of questions in advance of the supplier session. The platform will remain open until 15th May 2026 and all questions will help inform the session as well as the development of the procurement approach. The Authority currently operates two different levels of annual preventative health assessments, reflecting the differing requirements of specific roles within the organisation. The medicals are an employee benefit provided to members of staff and considered a key component of the Authority's approach to supporting employee health, safety and wellbeing. The existing contract is due for re-procurement, and the Authority wishes to engage the market early to understand current capabilities, new ideas, and potential models of delivery. The existing arrangements are due to be re‑procured, and the Authority therefore wishes to appoint a supplier/s through a competitive procurement process to deliver a comparable or enhanced service, while continuing to offer two distinct levels of cover. The procurement aims to ensure continuity of provision, quality of service, and value for money over the life of the contract. The Authority intends to procure a supplier to deliver comprehensive annual health checks at two levels of provision, as a minimum the following checks would be provided: Standard Annual Health Assessment (All Staff): • Pre-assessment lifestyle and wellbeing questionnaires • Biometric and body composition analysis • Blood pressure measurements • Cardiovascular health assessment including ABPI and heart rhythm screening • Respiratory/lung function testing • Diabetes risk and metabolic blood testing • Full lipid profile • Haematology profile • Liver and kidney function testing • Musculoskeletal health assessment • Cancer risk screening (age/gender dependent) • Urine analysis and additional diagnostic markers • Wellbeing advice and mental health indicators • Access to GP interpretation and aftercare • Self-managed booking system • Nationwide provision within reasonable travel distance Enhanced Health Assessment (Selected Roles): • Extended consultation with a doctor (up to one hour) • Structured mental health assessment • Sleep assessment • Mobility and flexibility assessment • Lifestyle, metabolic and energy requirements review • 12 months of personalised health coaching • 24/7 clinical advice line • Targeted cancer screening based on risk
