Coverage: 1 active published awards; 0 bid reports (which may be per lot). Supplier values exclude multi-supplier awards, frameworks and DPS, and use GBP only. They are published award values, not payments. Published-to-award variance compares single-lot, single-award, single-supplier GBP procedures with explicitly non-framework/non-DPS status; increases remain in the average. Unpublished data stays unknown. Awarded suppliers are winners, not all bidders.

Planning and rationale
Planning budgetNot published |
No-engagement rationaleNot published |
Procedure rationaleThe Xtreme CT II scanner requested is the only device capable of performing high-resolution bone scanning for research purposes in humans. This is required for planned studies including investigations of bone microstructure which cannot be imaged by any other method. Its resolution of 58μm is much higher than alternatives such as our current pQCT (400μm), DXA (500μm), clinical CT (CT:500-600μm) and MRI (250-1,500μm). There are no other high-resolution scanners, and SCANCO are the manufacturers and sole suppliers of the device. |
