Lot details

Lot 1

The University of Sussex has a campus and residencies located in Falmer, Sussex and intends to replace and upgrade its existing IT Network infrastructure (wired and wireless) across the campus. This highly visible flagship programme will provide a modern, secure, high speed wired and wireless campus data network to help the University achieve its strategic objectives of delivering “a world class education that transforms our students’ lives and futures”, facilitating “research with impact; knowledge and ideas that transform the world”. The network replacement programme will provide an upgrade of wired and wireless IT network infrastructure across campus, enhanced network security and resilience and lay the foundations for the future digital campus by providing students, researchers, staff, and visitors with the following: • An expanded Wi-Fi service across the campus, including outside spaces, to enable flexible and hybrid working and studying • A highly flexible, energy-efficient, and resilient wired network • Security designed into every element to maximise the protection of data and privacy • Greater network capacity and resilience through upgraded inter-building connectivity • Increased internet performance to support our remote, cloud-based world • Location-based services enabling on-campus route finding, information and signposting • Improved consistency and equity of service across residencies, allowing students to have an ‘at home’ experience and allowing them to utilise their smart technologies and devices • A data-rich environment opening new insights for the University to target services • Support for the Internet of Things (IoT) and modern services such as unified communications. The benefits attributed to the NRP are enhanced security, improved student satisfaction, reduced CO2 emissions, increased business continuity, faster and more secure data transfers. The high-level scope of the Capex procurement is for a turnkey as follows: 1. Core Network 2. Distribution Network 3. Edge Network 4. Wireless Network 5. Firewall security 6. Management and Monitoring Tools 7. Design and Implementation Services 8. Support and Maintenance TBC (Opex)

Comparable-procurement analytics

Benchmarked against retained Find a Tender procedures with CPV division 32. The category anchor is Telecommunications equipment and supplies (32500000); this is a deliberately broad market comparator. The comparison is shown at several levels rather than pretending one company or region is always the best benchmark.

“Reported bids” is an official aggregate, sometimes reported per lot; it is the closest available competition measure. “Named award suppliers” are winners, not all applicants.

Price-outcome signal

Not enough comparable procedures currently publish both a GBP tender value and a usable lowest-valid-bid value to calculate a responsible price-reduction benchmark. Tenderline deliberately does not infer a saving from named award suppliers or from missing award values.
