Coverage: 1 active published awards; 0 bid reports (which may be per lot). Supplier values exclude multi-supplier awards, frameworks and DPS, and use GBP only. They are published award values, not payments. Published-to-award variance compares single-lot, single-award, single-supplier GBP procedures with explicitly non-framework/non-DPS status; increases remain in the average. Unpublished data stays unknown. Awarded suppliers are winners, not all bidders.

What is being bought
Benign prostatic hyperplasia affects over 500 million men worldwide. While men can select from a variety of treatment options—from medication to major surgery—there has been a gap in the treatment continuum for a less invasive option. Prostatic Urethral Lift using the UroLift® System was designed to meet this need. With its unique design and mechanism of action, the UroLift System is a straightforward treatment that provides immediate, visible results. The procedure can be done in an outpatient or inpatient setting and under general or local anaesthesia. Patients typically can return home the same day without a catheter, and experience rapid symptom relief and recovery with low complication rates. The UroLift System treatment revitalizes the quality of life for patients and improves the BPH therapy experience for physicians.

Procedure rationaleAward of a contract without prior publication of a call for competition in the Official Journal of the European Union in the cases listed below • The procurement falls outside the scope of application of the directive Explanation: The Trust is seeking an Innovative Prostatic Stapling Implant system in place of the invasive transuretheral resection of prostrate (TURP) Patients benefit by this system in the following ways: - This is a Day case procedure with less blood loss and reduced possibility of transfusion. - Better patience experience as this procedure is better tolerated by younger patients. - Day case means patient can go home quickly And the Trust benefits in the following ways: - The release of release bed capacity on the Surgical Short Stay Ward. -Reduction in cost associated with day case -Increase in Trust reputation for undertaking Innovative procedures And the Urolift System is the only product in the market which delivers the combined benefit to the Patients and the Trust.
