Coverage: 20 active published awards; 20 bid reports (which may be per lot). Supplier values exclude multi-supplier awards, frameworks and DPS, and use GBP only. They are published award values, not payments. Price reduction compares single-lot, single-award, single-supplier GBP procedures with explicitly non-framework/non-DPS status; increases remain in the average. Unpublished data stays unknown. Awarded suppliers are winners, not all bidders.

Procedure rationaleSince 2022 Nuclear Instruments and STFC have worked collaboratively, combining NI’s expertise in electronics with ours in detector & muon science. The resulting system has been rigorously tested at the ISIS muon source, and proven to meet the requirements for SuperMuSR. Any items from a new supplier would require us to repeat this extensive testing using the ISIS muon beam. This is prohibitively costly in time and staff resource, entirely incommensurate with the SuperMuSR delivery timeline and near-impossible to result in either improved value or improved technological capability. |
