Current centrifuges used in Defence for transfusion testing are becoming obsolete. A replacement is essential to maintain safe and effective blood component processing for patient care in deployed environments.
The Bio-Rad Centrifuge is the only system that meets all requirements, capable of centrifuging both test tubes and ID cards in one unit. Its interchangeable heads eliminate the need for two separate devices, reducing space and improving efficiency.
Bio-Rad equipment is fully interchangeable with existing in-service laboratory systems, ensuring seamless integration without disrupting clinical workflows or requiring revalidation
Bio-Rad Laboratories is the sole manufacturer and distributor of the identified centrifuge and heads. This procurement aligns with Procurement Act 2023 provisions for single-source supply where no alternative exists.
Procurement Act 2023, Paragraph 7, Condition 41, Schedule 5: Direct award justified if change in supplier causes incompatibility or technical difficulties.
