Coverage: 83 active published awards; 79 bid reports (which may be per lot). Supplier values exclude multi-supplier awards, frameworks and DPS, and use GBP only. They are published award values, not payments. Published-to-award variance compares single-lot, single-award, single-supplier GBP procedures with explicitly non-framework/non-DPS status; increases remain in the average. Unpublished data stays unknown. Awarded suppliers are winners, not all bidders.

Procedure rationaleThis product is required purely for research purposes. This procurement aims to provide a small quantity of the final products (recombinant proteins, 2mg/ml in a purified state) that can be used to validate previously generated data and allow further development of serological assays.

An analysis of the five requirements of the Frascati guidelines have been completed and all five criteria are met for this requirement:
- Novel: These required products are novel proteins that have not been previously produced or made available commercially.
- Creative: Fragments identified in the discovery phase have been identified for production as full chain recombinant proteins. This is the first time these have been identified for any species.
- Uncertainty of outcome: Due to the novel nature of the requirement, there is a possibility that the Supplier will not be able to produce one / more of these proteins. The production of the proteins will be challenging as there may be unknown factors that could cause the proteins to be unstable.
- Systematic: The project is conducted under quality standard ISO 90001:2015. This standard requires documentation of all work, including obtaining data sheets of the procured proteins.
- Transferrable: Knowledge will be fully transferable in the future and would allow an alternative supplier to re-produce the results. |
