Supply and Delivery of MP521 Simulator Upgrades

Upgrade of the MP521 Engineering Flight Simulator at Wrexham University, as part of the Society 5.0 Manufacturing and Business Capability Project funded through the North Wales Growth Deal (Ambition North Wales).

The contract covers cockpit interface and instructor station enhancements; replacement of the hydraulic motion platform with an electro-mechanical motion system; sFUN driver integration for real-time control system modelling; delivery, installation, commissioning and system integration testing at Wrexham University, Mold Road, Wrexham, LL11 2AW; technical documentation in hard copy and electronic formats; on-site training for up to three staff; and a minimum one-year warranty covering parts, labour and technical support.

The contract was awarded without competition, following a single-supplier Quick Quote issued through Sell2Wales (reference 155355) and a single tender justification, on the grounds that the upgrades can be supplied only by the original supplier of the MP521 simulator for technical reasons and by reason of exclusive rights in the proprietary system, and that a change of supplier would result in incompatibility and disproportionate technical difficulties.
