This equipment deployed will need to cover all subsea cables and all scenarios listed below:\na) Nearshore - In the nearshore environment, defined as water depths of 0 to 20 metres Lowest Astronomical Tide (LAT). \nb) Offshore - In the offshore environment, defined as water depths in excess of of 20 metres LAT.\nIn addition to the primary cable protection works, the Employer wishes to retain the flexibility to issue Work Orders for activities that may arise over the duration of this long-term agreement to support asset resilience. \nWhile there are currently no defined scopes for these activities, the Contractor is expected to have the capability to undertake such works if required, including:\n•\tSeabed debris removal and relocation - which may involve methods such as ROV grapnel tooling, ploughs or other appropriate clearance techniques.\n•\tRemedial and reburial works - including cable reburial and sand wave removal activities using methods such as Mass Flow Excavation or other appropriate excavation techniques.\nThe Contractor is expected to support the core cable protection scope while maintaining the capability and readiness to deliver additional seabed intervention and cable reburial services as and when required throughout the term of the agreement.",

    "description": "National Grid is planning to launch a tender for a procurement of Subsea Cable Protection contract. \nThe scope of works/services will include a provision of a vessel and associated survey services, including loading and installation of protective measures such as rocks or concrete mattresses, for the purposes of protecting a subsea electricity cable.\nInterested suppliers must have the capability to provide such works/services in both nearshore and offshore UK and European waters. \nThe intention is to award this contract to a single supplier for an initial term of 4 years with two options to extend to a total duration of 8 years. \nDetailed requirements will be specified in an individual work order under the contract.\nThe contract is looking to provide works/services to the National Grid group and its JV partners. However, the key drivers are the current known exposures on IFA and NSL cables described below and the successful supplier will be expected to mobilise for these works/services in the spring 2027 (subject to licencing):\n•\tIFA between England and France: 2000m on NGV's IFA2000 offshore and 500m in a marine conservation zone, both in English waters will require protection by rocks.
