SCC SF - Market Engagement Workshop Event for Independent Alternative Provision

Context: Surrey County Council is embarking on an ambitious programme of change in relation to children’s Independent Alternative Provision, as we look to work with our partners and providers to strengthen the provision we have available in Surrey, enabling better outcomes for children and young people. We are beginning to develop our future offer and we would like to invite potential and existing providers to play a key part in shaping this. Ultimately, it is SCCs aim to ensure that every child and young person placed within Alternative Provision (if required): • Develop the skills and confidence to return to and access mainstream education (if appropriate) • Be safe and happy in any alternative provision(s) that they access • Develop the skills and confidence to transition to adulthood, including work opportunities (apprenticeships, post-16 education) • Has the option to access and contribute to local opportunities within their communities Aligned to the SEND green paper, Independent AP should be seen as an important part of the overall education support offer for children and young people that require it. The Specification will set out our intention to commission face-to-face and online services. Surrey County Council is committed to working collaboratively with providers to develop a high-quality provision that contributes to improved outcomes for our children. The event will be held on 7th March 2023. An expression of interest in this event will not automatically entitle involvement in any future procurement exercise. Any procurement conducted as a result of this event will be advertised separately and all organisations wanting to participate will need to respond to the advertisement as and when it is published. Providers who do not attend this Market Engagement Event will still be able to apply for the Procurement in the future. Please note that this Market Engagement event does not represent a formal stage in the procurement process and attendance will play no part in any subsequent evaluation process.
