Lot details

Lot 1

The SALMO Team within the Ministry of Defence (MOD) have a potential requirement to procure a deep-sea winch system, in order to carry out its core salvage activities. The intent is that the system should be capable of object recovery to a depth of 6000m. The intended procurement is for one stand-alone winch system capable to 6000m, including spooling system, active heave compensation and power source. The system is to be readily deployable via road transportation and air freight. There is a requirement for the system to be procured and supported via a UK prime contractor. The next stage will be to invite interested companies to outline their ability to fulfil the capability to the Authority. If you are interested in attending, please submit expressions of interest to desshipscomrcl-salmo-multiuser@mod.gov.uk by Friday 31st January 2025. SALMO plan to issue a contract notice and contract award for this requirement in financial year 2025/2026. In issuing this PIN and engaging with the market, neither SALMO nor the MOD are committing to carry out any procurement in relation to the information stated in this PIN.

Comparable-procurement analytics

Benchmarked against retained Find a Tender procedures with CPV division 43. The category anchor is Subsea equipment (43135000); this is a deliberately broad market comparator. The comparison is shown at several levels rather than pretending one company or region is always the best benchmark.

“Reported bids” is an official aggregate, sometimes reported per lot; it is the closest available competition measure. “Named award suppliers” are winners, not all applicants.

Price-outcome signal

Not enough comparable procedures currently publish both a GBP tender value and a usable lowest-valid-bid value to calculate a responsible price-reduction benchmark. Tenderline deliberately does not infer a saving from named award suppliers or from missing award values.
