Quarantine and Routine Health Monitoring. Quarantine covers direct sampling of quarantined animals (serology, faeces, fur and oral swabs) for periodic FELASA screens. Routine Health Monitoring traditionally consists of serologic panels, pathology, parasitology, and microbiology. We are keen to explore alternative methods in line with the 3Rs: Replace, Reduce and Refine, e.g. sentinel remote sampling (serology and PCR); colony animal remote sampling; exhaust air dust / PCR environmental screening (EAD); and a multisampling approach combining these options. The successful bidders for this contract will be expected to contribute to the development and implementation of an optimum health monitoring programme that address the 3Rs mentioned above.

Delivery: Scotland · Edinburgh BioQuarter, Little France., Edinburgh; King's Buildings, James Hutton Rd., Edinburgh; and Western General Hospital, Crewe Road South, Edinburgh. Potentially sites in West Central Scotland.
Extensions: The existing contract which expires in 2024 was constructed on a the basis of a two-year initial period with two optional extensions each of one year at the discretion of the contracting authority(s). It is intended this contract will replicate that.Variant bids: allowed
