Why no open competition
The procurement falls outside the scope of application of the directive
Published justification

There is limited competition in the radiopharmaceutical market, Greater Glasgow and Clyde require radiopharmaceutical medical equipment and consumables (DATSCAN/injections/capsules) to carry out specific diagnostic treatments. Therefore for reasons of compatibility and continuity in delivering quality patient care, no other supplier can provide the equipment and consumables other than the incumbent supplier. Due to current timescales, to initiate a procurement exercise would lead to disruption and a negative impact on patient care.
