The research is designed to follow Waves 1 and 2 of the NICOLA study and broadly harmonise with other longitudinal ageing surveys undertaken by Trinity College Dublin.

The NICOLA study at the Centre for Public Health in Queen’s has secured funding to commencethe third wave of this longitudinal ageing study.There are two previous waves of data collected by a Computer Assisted Personal Interview (CAPI) survey. The research is designed to follow Waves 1 & 2 of the NICOLA study and broadly harmonise with other longitudinal ageing surveys undertaken by Trinity College Dublin (The Irish Longitudinal Study of Ageing - TILDA) and by University College London (the English Longitudinal Study of Ageing - ELSA) in their follow up Waves. This wave will target a cohort of 6000 subjects to obtain information in relation to the experiences of ageing together, with a range of other dimensions of lifestyle, health and socio-economic circumstances.
