What is being bought
The Authority sought to appoint a provider to deliver the provision of shared lives scheme for adults. The service shall provide a Service for a Provision of Shared Lives to adults who need long term support to match them with a carefully approved Carer. The carer shares their home, family and community life and provide care and support to the person with care needs. Shared Lives Carers can also offer day respite arrangements. The Provider shall work flexibly to ensure service users' needs and choices are respected and promoted. Shared Lives Carers will be recruited, trained and approved by the provider of the Shared Lives Service. The provider will have a regular panel that recruits, trains, vets and tracks progress of potential future carers to match them with people's needs. The care and support provided by the carers will be in accordance with the persons support plan. People are supported to become as resilient and independent as possible, and to have equal life opportunities. The service will be provided by Shared Lives Carers 7 days a week and be supportive where necessary during the night and deliver the support over 365 days per year. Carers will be entitled to 28 days per year for carers break with pay. This will be carefully planned with the Carer, provider and LBR care managers so that there is minimum disruption to the service user. The duration of the contract will be from the 1st February 2026 and subject to earlier termination in accordance with the Contract, to continue until midnight on 31st January 2027 with the option to extend for four periods of twelve months each up to 31st January 2031.
