What is being bought
Published requirement descriptionThe provision of Manual Handling & Basic Life Safety training to all University Placement Students, in accordance with NHS Guidelines.
This includes all induction training, annual, or bi-annual refresher training, for all University Students, due to attend a placement within an NHS or Social Care setting.
Training dates to be agreed with the successful supplier, with planned sessions occurring throughout the academic year.
All training is to be delivered on-site, and will involve practical sessions (including training on the use of manual handling aids, and basic life safety equipment).
- Not divided into lots: To appoint a single supplier to provide all required training to our Placement students. Feedback from the Expression of Interest document indicated that there was a preference within the market, for a consolidated supplier to deliver both services, rather than individually awarding each service to a different supplier.

This is to ensure compatibility with NHS Trust's minimum standards for providing this training.
Where a supplier can meet these conditions (either with evidenced equivalent qualifications, or because they hold all accreditations above) then they will not be disregarded from this process.
Where a supplier cannot meet these conditions, and cannot evidence an appropriate equivalent qualification, then their tender submission shall be deemed to have not met the condition of participation, and will be disregarded from the process.

- Price carries 20 of 100 points: a 10% discount moves about 2 points. The method statement decides this lot, not the discount.

The Pre-Market Engagement is an Expression of Interest (EOI) process. This is for a supplier to provide Basic Life Support & Manual Handling training, to the University of Derby Student population, as part of preparing these students for placement. This training will enable our learners to engage in activities during placements, within health and social care settings.
This EOI process will be used to determine the suppliers to invite, to a competitive closed tender process.
The below questions are optional (except for the EOI), and will help inform thinking around this project, ahead of the tender release. This EOI process closes at 12:00 (noon) on Friday 12th June 2026.
This is not a formal tender but does represent an Expression of Interest, this is not a scored tender process.
Completing this form does not commit the University of Derby or the respondent to proceed.
Suppliers who submit this form will be invited to the formal tender stage should we proceed. The University reserves the right to not undertake a procurement process for these services.
The University also reserves the right to invite additional suppliers, or issue this as an Open Tender, in the event that insufficient suppliers apply, to demonstrate genuine competition.
