What is being bought
Birmingham City Council (the Council) is seeking to appoint an organisation for the provision of Drugs and Alcohol Testing. The service will be required to provide drug and alcohol testing as directed by managers, heads of service and the senior leadership team within BCC. All sample collection and subsequent testing must comply with relevant legislation and follow strict procedures to maintain chain of custody. Any laboratory used in the testing of samples must be a UKAS accredited laboratory to ISO 17025 standards. The Provider will be required to provide information, instruction and training to BCC employees, to contribute to the development of BCC testing policy and to ensure that testing is undertaken in line with associated standards and legislation. The contract for the services will commence from December 2025 and will be in place for a period of 4 years with a review clause after 12-months. The Council will be using its free to use e-tendering system (in-tend) for the administration of this procurement process and potential suppliers must register with the system to be able to express an interest.
