What is being bought

Published requirement description

Southeastern are seeking a partner to supply and implement and maintain a system which facilitates the automated measurement and inspection of the condition of critical underframe components on rolling stock vehicles to improve maintenance efficiency.

An example of critical components that will be required include (but are not limited to):

  • Brake pads (positioning & thickness)
  • Collector shoes (contact surface condition, positioning, height and thickness and security of fixings)
  • Wheel profiles and tire thickness measurements
  • Wheel tread condition check
  • Underframe (inspection of fixings and components which is able to identify loose, incorrectly oriented, damaged or missing components)

The system must be capable of inspecting and differentiating different rolling stock builds which may include as a minimum (but not be limited to):

Extensions: The contract shall be for the initial development and installation of the system but will also require ongoing maintenance. The installation and initial maintenance agreement is expected to be two years but may differ depending on warranties offered by bidders, with extension options available to take the total term of the agreement up to 5 yearsVariant bids: allowed
