Coverage: 1 active published awards; 0 bid reports (which may be per lot). Supplier values exclude multi-supplier awards, frameworks and DPS, and use GBP only. They are published award values, not payments. Published-to-award variance compares single-lot, single-award, single-supplier GBP procedures with explicitly non-framework/non-DPS status; increases remain in the average. Unpublished data stays unknown. Awarded suppliers are winners, not all bidders.

This VEAT is to inform the market of the ICB’s intention to direct award a contract to Bexley Health and Neighbourhood Care (BHNC), the Bexley GP Federation. The Virtual Clinical Assessment Service (VCAS) provides a GP consultation service outside of core surgery hours, delivered by local GPs who remotely assess, treat or triage patients by telephone following a referral from NHS 111 or (during specific and defined time periods, requested by the commissioner only), from GP practices. The service will operate routinely between 9am and 5pm on Saturdays and Sundays and 10am to 2pm on Bank Holidays (at the discretion of the commissioner). BHNC will co-ordinate and roster GP cover and supporting administration to enable bookable telephone appointment slots available to NHS 111 call-handlers on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays for patients registered with one of Bexley’s 21 GP practices.

Planning and rationale

No-engagement rationaleNot published
Procedure rationaleThe rationale for the direct award to Bexley Health and Neighbourhood Care (BHNC) is based on the following service requirements/criteria: i. This is a list base service and the provider will require access to the patient’s medical records and the full suite of clinical systems via EMIS Community, including all necessary Data Sharing Agreements. ii. In the interests of effective Care Navigation, it is essential for the provider to be knowledgeable of local care pathways and support provision. iii. There is minimal basis for price-based competition within the contract which is essentially rostering 1 x GP and 1 x admin support.
