        "description": "The current NRTS contract is due to come to an end in March 2027 and we have an exciting opportunity for new supply partner(s) who may be interested in bidding for this exciting and high value contract.  \nThe scope of the contract includes the maintenance and deployment of NRTS services and is expected to cover cable-based, wireless and public network technologies, alongside undertaking several related service areas (for example provision of a NRTS service management system that is capable of wider use to support our management of roadside devices). Any new supply partner(s) will need to be in place at least six months before the contract end date to ensure a smooth transition of contract management and requirements. \nThe duration of the new contract is anticipated to be around seven years, with the option to\nextend by a further two years, with a value range of between 500,000,000\nGBP and 800,000,000 GBP.\nDue to the broad scope of the project, it is likely that a wide range of\nsuppliers will be needed to deliver the NRTS3 contract requirements and, taking this into account, we think this opportunity will most likely be of interest to:\n*Project management contractors;\n*Telecommunications equipment suppliers;\n*Telecommunications equipment maintainers;\n*Fixed telecommunications network operators;\n*Mobile telecommunications network operators (e.g. 4G, satellite, wireless\nbroadband);\n*Highways infrastructure civil contractors; and\n*Small and medium enterprises with relevant specialist expertise. (It is anticipated\nthat the contract will be awarded to 1 or more prime suppliers).\nSuppliers that are interested in this opportunity should note that we use a number of bespoke systems and special conditions apply to working in a motorway environment to ensure the safety of workers and the\ntravelling public. \nAny organisation taking part in the procurement process will need to demonstrate competence in these areas.\nWe will be holding an Industry Day on week commencing Monday 26th February 2024 to provide further details of NRTS and the opportunities available.   The event will be held in Birmingham and we will confirm the date and time in the near future.
