It has been reported that travelling to areas outside of Rotherham can cause anxiety and so locating this in Rotherham in RDaSH would address this cause of anxiety. <br/>The Rotherham Adult Autism Diagnostic Service provides diagnostic assessments for Autism Spectrum Disorder for adults who currently live in the Rotherham area.<br/>For individuals receiving a diagnosis of Autism, short-term follow-up sessions will be offered that can help with:<br/><br/>• Adjustment to autism diagnosis<br/>• Education around diagnosis<br/>• Working with employers/services to make reasonable adjustments<br/>• Sensory Assessments<br/>• Signposting to services that offer further support<br/><br/>Team: The diagnostic service benefits from a multi-disciplinary team approach consisting of both psychologists and occupational therapists.<br/><br/>Service Base: The service is based in the centre of town at Centenary Clinic however clinics will be also offered at Swallownest Court, Ferham Clinic or individuals own homes. Initial assessments can be offered using remote technology.<br/><br/>Referrals: GPs and RDaSH professionals can make a referral to the service on behalf of their patient. A mandatory referral form will need to be completed along with an AQ10 from the patient.<br/><br/>The service is valued and has made a positive impact in supporting autistic people living in Rotherham as it connects to the post-diagnostic offer provided by Rotherham Parent Carers Forum. <br/><br/>The incumbent provider is holding a waiting list for diagnostic assessments. <br/>The new NHS procurement regime is not anticipated to be implemented before April 2023 and there may be an implementation period of a further 6 months.
