Payment obligations depend on the applicable regime and contract. Consult the official documents.
Coverage: 185 active published awards; 13 bid reports (which may be per lot). Supplier values exclude multi-supplier awards, frameworks and DPS, and use GBP only. They are published award values, not payments. Published-to-award variance compares single-lot, single-award, single-supplier GBP procedures with explicitly non-framework/non-DPS status; increases remain in the average. Unpublished data stays unknown. Awarded suppliers are winners, not all bidders.

What is being bought
The Department requires the expertise of a medical service supplier whose clinical advisors will provide advice on whether applications for ill health retirement under the Teachers’ Pension Scheme (TPS) meet the criteria set out in the regulations. A successful service provider will be responsible for reviewing all new ill health applications, including serious ill health applications, as well as first-stage and second-stage appeals. They will also provide a written medical assessment of a member’s current health and/or life expectancy, and make associated medical recommendations on a member’s eligibility, or continued eligibility, for an ill health pension, as determined by the relevant legislation. Our existing contract runs out on 31 March 2026. We anticipate the new contract will be awarded at the beginning of December 2025 to allow sufficient transition/ implementation time before 1 April 2026.
