The Council appointed insurance broker undertook a market engagement exercise to identify insurers to provide cover for he Council ran insurance scheme for Leicestershire academies and maintained schools.
Following the exercise, the broker confirmed that only one insurer was willing and able to provide a quotation for the required insurance cover.
As a result, there is no effective competition available in the market for this specific requirement.
The award is therefore on a single-supplier basis due to the absence of an alternative supplier in the market.
- Risks
A known risk is no change in the market. There is risk that toward the end of the term of the contract, there is still limited/no competition in the insurance market due to insurers unwilling to underwrite this particular type of risk.
