What is being bought
BEIS are looking for end-to-end executive search support to fill the role of Chair and Trustee-Director of the Nuclear Liabilities Fund (NLF), a vacancy which arises in April '22. The Nuclear Liabilities Fund (NLF) is a segregated investment fund set up to meet the cost of decommissioning the UK nuclear power stations now owned and operated by EDF. It is underwritten by HMG and holds assets of c.£15bn. The Chair leads the Board of the NLF in assessing its funding position, investing its assets, making payments to meet qualifying decommissioning costs and providing strategic input to help control decommissioning liabilities.

    The successful candidate will have the following experience and skillset: 1. Investment/finance experience; a demonstrable record of leadership at senior management level in an investment/asset management/financial institution, or similar role which has had a public and/ or political profile. 2. Ability to lead a Board through a period of change, ensuring high performance, robust risk management and excellent stakeholder engagement. 3. Experience of operating at Board level, ideally in a non-executive capacity. 4. Excellent inter-personal skills with the ability to challenge and be challenged and a demonstrable ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships within a senior leadership context. 5. Strong intellectual capability, with the capacity to understand technical financial issues and to think strategically. 6. Politically astute both in managing relationships and maintaining support amongst a range of stakeholders.
