The spaces will be used for student services and teaching purposes only and not used for patients. Block 7A: Estimated Cost £950,000. The project includes fitting out Block 7A at first floor level within the South Wing of St Thomas’ Hospital Building (operated by GSTT) to accommodate the King’s College London (KCL), Digital Library. The spaces will be used as a digital library with smart lockers, laptop storage, bookable spaces to allow access to books and learning. There will not be any stacks of books. Currently the Library is located within St Thomas’ House and will need to be relocated to allow the existing building to be demolished. This will dictate the programme. South Wing is a live, grade 2 listed, building and services are in use 24/7. For both Block 6A and 7A: Currently the student services department and library are located within St Thomas’ House and will need to be relocated to allow the existing building to be demolished. This will dictate the programme. South Wing is a live, grade 2 listed, building and services are in use 24/7. Noise dust and M&E services will need to be carefully managed and planned in connection with the other building users. Access to and around the site is limited. Careful consideration will be required when considering lifting of large items. A high quality of finish is required. Samples and mock ups will be required to control quality. Install in line with spec and drawings. Allowance has been made for some repair work to the existing the building but otherwise, the intention is to maintain the existing building fabric. IT services for AV will be critical. The works include some Contractors Design Portions CPD to complete the works in line with the design intent.
