Lot #1(Children with Medical Needs) Sub Lot 1.1 - Virtual Group/Individual TuitionAwardedRenewalPublished value£220,000
The Inclusion Service at the Council supports children and young people with medical needs who are not able to attend school or educational settings.
The local authority has a duty to arrange education for children with medical needs where they have not been able to attend education for 15 days or more. The Inclusion Service co-ordinates the necessary arrangements in order for children to continue to receive an education whilst they are too ill to attend school following 15 days of absence. The support options that may be available could include:
- Supporting and co-ordinating education with schools who are able to maintain access to learning/reduced timetables, ensuring that the education is both appropriate and effective to the child’s needs
- Working with the school to provide sessions in the school to reintegrate back into education or where appropriate through attending virtual ‘in school’ lessons (i.e. via Teams/AV1 platforms etc)
- Groups tuition through virtual platforms or where required 1:1 tuition (virtual) that links to school and their existing curriculum
- any combination of the above depending on the needs of the child.
The work always aims to reintegrate children and young people back into school at the earliest opportunity with mixed transition arrangements that suit the need of the child.
