What is being bought
Published requirement descriptionThe Health for Health Professionals Service (HHP) Wales provides all doctors in Primary and Secondary Care with access to British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapy (BABCP) in their area. Doctors can self refer and are assessed by a doctor adviser, qualified in physicians health, before being referred for face to face counselling.
Due to the higher levels of stress and anxiety during the COVID-19 pandemic, further exacerbated during the second wave, the Health for Health Professionals Service has been extended to be provided as a matter of urgency to all of the NHS workforce and also the Social Care sector for 2021 to 2022.

Extreme urgency brought about by events unforeseeable for the contracting authority/entity and in accordance with the strict conditions stated in the directive
- Published justification
The health system continues to be under great pressure at the present time due to COVID-19 including the unknown impact of the second wave and our response to this pressure needs to be rapid and focussed. Due to the continued demand anticipated over the coming months, the provision has been made to bolster Cardiff University’s existing provision of Health for Health Professionals Service Wales and the service be made available to all of the NHS workforce and also the Social Care sector. This will include support for a changing workforce with retired doctors and final year medical students forming part of the future service delivery and the Social Care sector.
