Coverage: 29 active published awards; 4 bid reports (which may be per lot). Supplier values exclude multi-supplier awards, frameworks and DPS, and use GBP only. They are published award values, not payments. Price reduction compares single-lot, single-award, single-supplier GBP procedures with explicitly non-framework/non-DPS status; increases remain in the average. Unpublished data stays unknown. Awarded suppliers are winners, not all bidders.

What is being bought
The range of stepping arrangements at the Platform Train Interface (PTI) on the GB network presents issues for safe and independent boarding across the GB rail network. Variations in platform height, train floor level, door opening treadplates and platform curvature create vertical and lateral stepping distances that present accessibility as well as safety and operational challenges, particularly for passengers with reduced mobility or other access needs. These challenges also affect dwell times, operational performance, and passenger confidence.
While previous research has provided valuable insights into PTI geometry, human factors, and accessibility implications, the industry still lacks a useable classification system that links physical PTI geometry measures to accessibility levels. An evidence-based framework is needed to guide cost-effective interventions and prioritise investment in boarding accessibility.
To address this gap, RSSB together with NR System Operator is scoping two complementary research projects. We are seeking supplier input into the scoping activity underway. Please provide your views on the questions specified within the documentation:
