Published requirement description

Newton Abbot Town Council invites tenders for the provision of highway grass verge maintenance services throughout Newton Abbot, Devon.

The contract covers the maintenance of approximately 112,797m² of urban highway grass verges across 358 mapped areas in 20 locations throughout the town. Services include six scheduled grass cuts per year between April and October, together with litter picking prior to cutting, strimming around obstacles and street furniture, vegetation management and the maintenance of highway visibility splays.

The Contractor shall provide all labour, plant, equipment, materials, supervision and traffic management necessary to deliver the service safely and efficiently. All works must be carried out in accordance with relevant health and safety legislation and Chapter 8 traffic management requirements.

The successful Contractor will be required to use the Council's Civic.ly asset management system to receive work instructions, record completed works and report defects or issues identified during operations.

The contract includes the management of designated wildlife verges, which are subject to alternative cutting regimes to support biodiversity objectives, and liaison with community groups involved in the management of certain grassed areas.

The Council seeks a Contractor capable of delivering a high-quality, responsive and environmentally responsible service that maintains the safety, appearance and biodiversity value of the highway verge network.

About this data
  • Source. Official UK public procurement notices (Find a Tender), reused under the Open Government Licence v3.0. New notices arrive through the day; the figures are rebuilt nightly.
  • Two views, kept apart. The authority’s own track record and the wider market for the same kind of work sit side by side and are never mixed. Where the local picture is too thin, a figure widens to a broader market and says which one it used.
  • Forecasts are labelled. The price forecast and its range, possible competitors and the earlier-work matches are our estimates from past awards: not published facts, not win chances and not price advice. Official notices do not say who is bidding.
  • Every figure shows what it rests on. Not every notice publishes a bid count, a value or a delivery region, so each figure carries the number of records behind it, and one built on few records is marked as such. The on a figure explains it; the counting rules are in the methodology. Spotted something wrong? Tell us.
