    Wavelength shifting (WLS) fibres of different lengths and diameters, totalling a length of 55 km, are required for new detectors on ISIS. This fibre is a critical component in neutron sensitive scintillation detectors that have been developed at ISIS. The fibres capture light from neutron sensitive scintillators embedded in the detectors and transport it to light sensors for signal processing.
