The only viable option was to carry out a single source procurement with Honeywell on the grounds that Honeywell are the engine OEM and due to the proprietary nature of the engine, Honeywell are the only organisation that has access to all of the UK PROTECTOR TPE331-10YGD engine Type Design Data that is required for Initial Certification of the engine. GA-ASI as the aircraft integrator has access to select Type Design Data to aid with integration with the aircraft, however the data they hold is inadequate for engine Type Certification as levied by the Subsystem Certification Plan for Propulsion & Oil (P&O SSCP). \nIn order to gain UK PROTECTOR certification from the UK MAA, the Authority requires Honeywell’s SME knowledge and support.",
