Coverage: 133 active published awards; 129 bid reports (which may be per lot). Supplier values exclude multi-supplier awards, frameworks and DPS, and use GBP only. They are published award values, not payments. Price reduction compares single-lot, single-award, single-supplier GBP procedures with explicitly non-framework/non-DPS status; increases remain in the average. Unpublished data stays unknown. Awarded suppliers are winners, not all bidders.

What is being bought
The proposed contract is for radiocarbon dating and Bayesian analysis (where required) of an estimated 150 to 300 archaeological and related palaeoenvironmental samples per year. It is expected that there will be a collaborative research element involving HES, archaeological groups working on projects sponsored or paid for by us, and the Supplier. It is also expected that all samples submitted will be at a macroscopic level. The contract also includes provision of advice to Historic Environment Scotland and /or the sample submitter on the selection of samples and the interpretation of the results. It is essential that expertise in Bayesian statistics is included in this provision, which includes providing Bayesian modelling/ analysis of results when requested.
