What is being bought
Shared Lives is an arrangement whereby members of the public are recruited and trained by the Provider as self-employed Host Carers to older people 65 years plus, in need of support. Time to care for others is essential and full training and support is provided by the Provider to all Host Carers to enable them to offer this valuable service. Host Carers will share their home, lives, families, interests and experiences in order to support the Service User to live fulfilled lives in the community. Support is provided within a safe and stable home and family life. Time spent with a Host Carer can range from a few hours during the day or evening, during the week or weekends, to a short overnight break or Adult Placements/ Long Term Services hence offering flexible work patterns.

Additional information: In section 1.2 it states that this procurement is a joint procurement. This is not a joint procurement; it is operated by Business Services Organisation PaLS on behalf of the SPPG. The value in ll.1.7 and V.2.4 includes an initial contract period of 3 years with option to extend for 2 x 12 months. This value also includes provision for an increase in additional service volumes of 40% as outlined in clause 4.1 of B Document - SS20a Service Specification document, should funding become available, subject to a) an assessment of need and b) satisfactory performance by the Provider.
