- Change The period of the contract is to be extended by a period of 12 months in addition to the provision made in the original contract., Need for modification brought about by circumstances which a diligent contracting authority/entity could not foresee: These modifications are made under the provisions set out in Regulation 72 (1) (c) (i), (ii) and (iii). Procurement Policy Note - Responding to COVIS-19 PPN 01/20 (pp 6-7) also refers. The need for contract modification has been brought about by the circumstances of COVID-19 which have meant resources in the Contracting Authority have been redirected to efforts to support front line Health & Social Care activities, including direct care for patients and efforts to support supply chain activities. As a result, scheduled re-tendering activity is being delayed while the current circumstances are present. While there are planned measures for disruption to normal business activities, the scale of the impact of COVID-19 and the uncertain duration could not have been foreseen by the Contracting Authority.
