Coverage: 230 active published awards; 205 bid reports (which may be per lot). Supplier values exclude multi-supplier awards, frameworks and DPS, and use GBP only. They are published award values, not payments. Price reduction compares single-lot, single-award, single-supplier GBP procedures with explicitly non-framework/non-DPS status; increases remain in the average. Unpublished data stays unknown. Awarded suppliers are winners, not all bidders.

What is being bought
The genetics core team wishes to trial a novel bench-top sequencing platform which can scan low diversity libraries with high quality (Q30>90%; Q40>90%), a low PhiX spike, providing 2B reads per run at low cost of purchase and low cost per run (<5 GBP/Gb) and the ability to operate on small and large scale reading projects. On the basis of market analysis it is believed competition is absent for technical reasons and the awarded supplier may offer the only current ‘out of the box’ single device which fulfils this specification within the project budget. A ten day stand-still period will be observed should an economic operator who has not been identified in the market engagement wish to challenge the award, at which point the Authority may at its sole option cancel the award.
