What is being bought
In accordance with the Police Regulations, Police Pensions Regulations, Injury Benefits Regulations, Local Government Pension Scheme Regulations (LGPS) and relevant legislation advice and guidance, or as amended in the life of this contract. There is a requirement for each Force to have access to a Force Medical Advisor (FMA).
In addition to the provision of an FMA service there is also a requirement (in some participating forces) for Occupational Health Nurse and Nurse Advisors.
In urgent (perhaps life threatening) cases the Force may appoint the FMA to act as SMP to consider the question of permanent disability.
In answering the statutory questions under the relevant Pension Regulations the doctor acts in a quasi-judicial capacity.
