The basement floor\nstacks are to be transformed into new study spaces which complement the existing study\nareas on the upper floors. Refurbishment works on the upper floors will be carried out to the\nexisting toilet/welfare facilities as well both the café and main entrance lobby area. New roof\nmounted plant/ equipment will also be introduced as part of these works.\nThe principal contractor will be receive possession of the 4 storey building over the summer 3\nmonth period up to September 2022, after which Levels 2, 3 and 4 will be handed over.\nRemaining works on level 1 will require to be suitably segregated from the live library areas.\nThe library books will remain in place and will require to be suitably protected from dust,\nphysical damage, water and fire, and will also require to be accessed on a daily basis by\nlibrary staff, between 4pm and 6pm. It is envisaged that a clear flame retardant polythene\nsheeting or similar will provide the necessary protection to the books.\nFire is a significant risk in this facility and as such the PC is required to develop a suitable\nFire Plan, which will include maintaining automatic detection throughout the building and a\ndaily 1 hour fire watch after work is completed. By exception, a 2 hour fire\nwatch is required to be carried out where hot works have taken place. Applicants have 2 working days from the notification of the award decision to request additional debriefing and that information has to be provided a minimum of 3 working days before the expiry of the standstill period.
