The work involves the maintenance and improvement to structures and associated ancillary works for five contract areas. Refer to MoI Part B7.3.1.

Within each contract, the works may include but not be limited to the following principal work activities which are provided by way of example:

A. stonework,

B. sprayed concrete,

C. reinforced concrete repairs,

D. working with services/utilities,

E. vehicle restraint systems installation or repair,

F. reinforced concrete construction,

G. installation of precast beams or box culverts,

H. TTM/dealing with live traffic on Public Roads.

The works may also include but not be limited tothe following activities:

  • pressure pointing,
  • bridge expansion joints,
  • structural steel painting,
  • structural steelwork,
  • temporary works,
  • waterproofing,
  • demolition,
  • emergency response.

    • Change During the contract period, responsibility for the maintenance of structures associated with the new A6 Dungiven to Drumahoe Dual Carriageway was incorporated within the STN1 contract. These assets did not form part of the maintainable network when STN1 was procured and were therefore not included within the original contract scope. The present modification relates solely to the additional expenditure incurred through STN1 in maintaining these additional structures., Need for additional works, services or supplies by the original contractor/concessionaire: Following the opening of the A6 Dungiven to Drumahoe Dual Carriageway, maintenance of the associated structures became necessary. Utilising the incumbent STN1 contractor provided continuity of service and a consistent approach to structures inspection, maintenance and asset management. Appointing a separate contractor for this relatively small subset of structures would have required additional procurement, mobilisation and contract management arrangements, resulting in duplication of costs, operational inefficiencies and significant inconvenience. The use of the incumbent contractor therefore enabled these structures to be efficiently integrated into the existing structures maintenance arrangements.
